Cobra Museum Amstelveen

The Cobra Museum in Amstelveen displays works by master painters like Karel Appel and Jan Sierhuis and also hosts temporary exhibitions of international artists. The museum focuses on modern art and opened its doors for the first time on November 8, 1995. The Museum refers to the Cobra movement, an art movement of the 40s who had much influence on modern art. The museum has an impressive collection and besides this also has a story to tell about the movement and the impact it has had on the art world.

Cobra Museum - BinnenIn the courtyard you will find a beautiful Japanese zen garden. This garden was designed by Shinkichi Tajiri, deceased in 2009, sculptor of Japanese descent (raised in America, and later moved to the Netherlands).

The museum won the 2009 Accessibility Price awarded by the Chronically Sick and Disabled Council and the Zet Foundation.
